Advertising is part science, part art. Getting your strategy right is only 50% of the work: the rest is pure execution. So many projects have great ideas but fail to make an impact because those ideas are implemented poorly.
Since the bar has been set so high by leading brands, most people can easily distinguish between a poorly executed design or TV commercial, and a well-executed one. They might not spot the exact elements that are off, but they will know that overall something in the look and feel isn’t right.
So aim for perfect design, editing, voice over delivery – every element in the process. You have to polish the smallest details, even if you think they will never be noticed. It’s these little details that will help you stand out.
Babies were born, people got married, people got divorced, people died, people were hired, fired, quit, homes were bought, homes were sold, tears were shed, harsh words were spoken, fear, dread, resentment, jealousy, frustration and rage came and went like clouds in the sky. The only constant was the passion for more. There was a lot of that. In fact, it was the catalyst for many of the preceding events. As we look down the barrel of the next big adventure I know that more water will flow under the bridge, but I hope that the passion that brought us to this point is never extinguished.
Oh, I almost forgot! I got on a treadmill for a few short months, lost inches and was able to tuck in my shirt without feeling like Jack Black.
